The department of General Surgery is catering to all types of conventional and advance laparoscopic surgical procedures planned as well as emergency including advanced trauma management. It caters to all referred and new cases from adjoining states and complicated cases referred from adjoining states for both emergency as well as planned surgeries. The department is also extending its specialized services in form of Vein Clinic, Breast & Endocrine clinic & GI Minimal Access Surgery Clinic. It is in the process of developing Bariatric Surgical facilities and skill lab.
The department also supports various research activities in the department and in various other departments of the hospital. The department also run various academic activities in form of regular CMEs, conferences and PG teaching classes. The department also boast off very dynamic faculty members and provide a framework and support system for career development of junior faculties and paramedic staff.

Infrastructure
OPD - There is a separate outdoor block for OPD patients. The Outpatient services are provided daily on the IInd floor of the new OPD block. OPD services include various Special Clinics Services, minor OT & Dressing.
Emergency and Trauma Care - A world class five hundred bedded new emergency block was inaugurated 07th Feb.2018 for all emergency patients. Department of Surgery is providing 24x7 care to all surgical emergency patients Total number of emergency major surgeries performed by general surgery team in a year is approx.3000.
IPD (Indoor Patient Department) – Department of Surgery has total five wards (Wd.1, Wd.B, Wd.24,25 & 26). Total number of beds-240.
Operation Theatre (OT) – Operation theatres (OT Ist floor and IInd floor) & NEB Emergency OT.
Seminar Room – Department of Surgery has well equipped seminar room for all teaching activities.
Library – Department of Surgery has departmental library which is equipped with recent books and various journals.
Services
Outdoor Department - - There is a separate outdoor block for OPD patients. The Outpatient services are provided daily on the IInd floor of the new OPD block. OPD services include various Special Clinics Services and minor OT where minor surgical procedures are done and dressing room for dressing of patients.
For CGHS patients: OPD in the CGHS Wing, D Block of new OPD building on 3rd floor.

Department of Surgery is providing 24x7 care to all surgical emergency patients. A world class five hundred beded new emergency block was inaugurated o 07th Feb.2018. To care all emergency patients. Total number of emergency surgeries perform by general surgery team yearly approx..3000.
