Neurology

The Department of Neurology has total of 47 beds including 34 beds in General Ward, 6 beds in Stroke HDU, 2 Stroke ICU beds and 5 General ICU beds.

The Department of Neurology provides inpatient and outpatient services. Neuroelectrophysiology tests including Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), Electromyography (EMG), Evoked Potentials (EPS) and Electroencephalography (EEG)are done in the department on working days from Monday to Saturday. Prior appointment is required for the tests which can be taken from the ‘Reception’ of the Department on the 2nd Floor SSB. The Neuroelectrophysiology lab is manned by the trained technicians.

The Department of Neurology has physiotherapist for rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders.

The current schedule of General and Special OPDs as under.

Special Neurology Clinics including Movement Disorder Clinic, Epilepsy Clinic and Cognitive Neurology Clinic are conducted by the department. Only those patients who are referred to the clinic from the General Neurology OPD of the Department of Neurology are seen on prior appointment taken from the reception of the department on 2^nd Floor. Currently, all special clinics are being held on Thursdays (2pm to 4pm).

The Department of Neurology currently runs Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course in Neurology affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi

The Department of Neurology has regular teaching plan including case presentation, seminars, journal clubs, neuroradiology and neuropathology sessions for the DM (Neurology) course residents. The Department of Neurology is involved in the teaching of the postgraduate students of Medicine and Psychiatry posted to the department from time to time.

The department undertakes teaching theory and is clinical practical training of MBBS students of VMMC.

Department is involved in teaching and training of BSc & MSc Nursing students of Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
