The Department of Pediatrics of the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi is one of the major Departments of this institute known to people of the Northern and Eastern India for its Clinical, Academic and Research achievements. Its vision and mission are commensurate with the goals of the institution and encompass the following:

Vision: To be a centre for excellence in patient care, teaching, training and research and provide future leaders for guiding Health Policy of India.

Mission statement: The Paediatricians groomed at Department of Pediatrics of the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College &Safdarjung Hospital should:

  • Understand critically the role of health and health care provider in context of National health Policies.
  • Diagnose and rationally manage common as well as emerging health problems in the sociocultural milieu of the individual and community and practice holistic medicine comprising of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of the diseases.
  • Develop ability for continued self-learning and carry out research with an attitude of standardisation of methods and usage of appropriate technology.
  • Have personal attributes such as integrity, responsibility, dependability and empathy.
