Location – (i) Main Blood Centre - 2^nd floor, CSSR Building.

(ii) N.E.B. Blood Centre - 3rd floor of New Emergency Building.

General Information:

The blood centre is functional round the clock.

The following activities are routinely performed (supplement/ supplementary /additional)

Investigation done (routine and special on per clinical demand)

Blood component prepared:

Registration and screening of blood donation.
Whole blood collection from the screened donors.
Blood component preparation from the blood units collected.
Mandatory test of the bold units for transfusion transmissible infection TTI i.e., HIV, Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, Syphilis and malaria as per DCGI mandate.
Discard of blood units tested to be positive of TTI markers.
Storage of TTI negative units/ component at the appropriate temperature and conditions as prescribed by DCGI.
Compatibility testing of blood component, with patients sample received in blood centre.
Issue of compatible units to the patients as demanded by the clinician.
Single donor platelet apheresis (SDP) collection from the screened blood donor and issued to patients as demanded by clinician.
Quality control of reagents, procedures and blood component as per SOP.
