Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplant is a Super Specialty Department in Safdarjung Hospital. Department of Nephrology & Renal Transplant Medicine is a tertiary care center for patients.

Renal Transplant:
Unit - A & Unit – B will conduct Renal Transplant on alternate basis. Both the units will follow the Renal Transplant protocol of the Department.
Dialysis Unit:
Both the units will take clinical rounds of dialysis units on alternate days.

*Non-academic Senior Residents and Junior Residents will be posted in Ward, Dialysis & Transplant areas and will assist both units in patient care and management.
*This is flexible distribution of faculties. They may be asked to help in the other unit in times of need/shortage as demanded by unit in-charge.
- Kidney Transplant - Donor and Recipient workup, Immunosuppressive medicine induction and maintenance therapy, Perioperative Nephrology care and immunosuppressive medicines titration, Post-transplant complication management and follow up Transplant Clinic on every Wednesday (working day) for our Post-transplant patients.
- Interventional Nephrology - Non-tunnel and tunnel catheter insertion, Peritoneal and Continuous Peritoneal Catheter insertion and Kidney Biopsy.
- Indoor Services - We provide Indoor Nephrology care to patients requiring active Nephrology intervention, immunosuppression therapy etc. Not requiring critical care or with multisystem involvement.
- Hemodialysis - Department provide hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration and SLED services in all working days 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 3 pm to critically ill, admitted patients require dialysis on priority basis. Hemodialysis is provided to the live related/unrelated transplant waiting patient who have completed work up for eligibility of transplant.
No facility of MHD is provided on OPD basis.
- At present no hemodialysis facility for seropositive patients available.
- At present no CRRT facility available in department.
- Plasmapheresis facility is also available for indoor patients in Department of Nephrology & other departments at Safdarjung Hospital.
- OPD services are provided by Nephrology in Super Specialty Block on Monday and Thursday from 2 pm to 4 pm in Room No. 227, 228, 235.
- Transplant OPD Clinic - Department runs transplant Clinic on every Wednesday (working day) from 9 am to 12 pm in Department of Nephrology for the patients who underwent kidney transplant in Safdarjung hospital for their detail assessment and easy delivery of transplant medicine.
