Details of courses running in the VMMC & Safdarjang Hosptial dealt through Academic Section of this Institute

1. Diploma in Medical Lab Technician

Three years’ duration course is conducted in Safdarjung Hospital for the candidates selected by Board of Technical Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi based on CET Examination. The course is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

No of Sanctioned Seats = 33 per year.

Entry Level = 10 th

Commencement of session = 1st August every year

Duration = 3 years

2. MLT (Voc.) Apprenticeship Training

One year apprenticeship training approved by Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region) 117-L/440, Kakadeo, Kanpur – 208025 (U.P.).

No of seats = 25 per year

Duration = 01 year (session start from 1st August every year

Stipend = Rs. 1970/- per month

Eligibility Criteria: Having passed 10+2 with vocational MLT from CBSE for Intermediate with vocational MLT as a subject. Preference is given to candidate of 10+2 vocational MLT pass outs from CBSE northern region and eastern region. Applications are invited through Advertisement in leading newspapers both in English and Hindi.

Mode of Selection: Purely on Merit basis as per marks obtained in 10+2.

3. Pre-hospital Trauma Technician

No. Of seats = 30 seats per year

Duration = One Year duration course.

Stipend = Rs.1500/- per month

Mode of selection- = Selection process is done by VMMC & SJH for all the three central govt hospital i.e. VMMC & SJH, Dr. RML Hospital and LHMC.

Eligibility Criteria: Having passed 10+2 with Biology as a subject. Applications are invited through Advertisement in leading newspapers.

Mode of Selection: Purely on Merit basis through counselling as per marks obtained in 10+2. Reservation also applicable as per Govt of India rule.

4. Short Term Training & Observership

Short Term Training & observership are available in different specialties as per DGHS guidelines. Maximum Period of short term training is 6 months on payment @ Rs.500/- per month. Period of Observership is one week

5. MBBS & Internship

Further, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, established in 2002, presently having 150 MBBS /Under Graduate seats affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Moreover, 200 seats are sanctioned for internship training. The vacancy of seats for internship training for external candidates depends upon the vacancy after the adjustment of internal candidates. 6. Post Graduate & DNB Courses

The Hospital has been providing post-graduate education in some specialties for over four decades. At present, the Government has sanctioned 181 seats for PG Degree courses and 22 seats for Super-specialty courses affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Besides, 40 seats for DNB Broad Specialty, 12 seats of DNB Super Specialty and 02 seats of FNB (Sports Medicine) per year are also sanctioned by the Govt.

7. Senior Resident and Junior Resident Post

The tenure of post of Senior Resident and Junior Resident are of 3 years and 1 year respectively.

General Guidelines For Filling Up Junior Resident Posts In Different Departments Of This Institute

Total Sanctioned post of Junior Resident are 397 nos. Duration of Junior Resident post is 01 years tenure. Some of the posts of JR are also transferred to PG-JR. They are Governed by Residency Scheme applicable in this hospital. Every year in the month of November and May the advertisement is published in the leading newspapers both English and Hindi version for filling up the regular post of Junior Resident. In-between two regular recruitments, unfilled / backlog vacancies of reserved posts of Junior Resident is also being advertised to fill up through Special Drive.

Mode of Selection:

The selection of Junior Resident is through written exam followed by counselling on the basis of merit score in written exam for allotment of seats in various departments and no interview shall be conducted.

Eligibility Criteria:

The qualification for Junior Resident is MBBS degree from a Recognized University and registered with DMC (Delhi Medical Council)
Internship completion date should not be earlier than 2 years from date of filling up the post.

Qualification for JR (Dental/ Maxillo-facial Surgery) is BDS degree from recognized university and registered with DDC/ State Dental Council.

SC, ST, OBC & PWD reservation as per Govt. of India Rules and includes backlog vacancies. 3% of total posts of SR as per DOPT Govt. of India Rules are reserved for persons with disability (PWD) including back log vacancies.

PWD – Only PWD Orthopaedic are eligible (Medical Certificate from the Govt. Institution is required).

Pay Scale of Junior Resident: Rs. 15600-39100/- + 5400 (Grade Pay) + other allowances as admissible will be paid.

Those who have already done one year Junior Residency in any Govt. Hospital are not eligible for JRship in this Institute.

General Guidelines for Filling Up Senior Resident Posts in Different Departments of this Institute

Total Sanctioned post of Senior Resident are 480 nos. Duration of Senior Resident post is 3 years tenure. They are treated as Temporary Govt. Servant. Their pay scale is Rs. 15600-39000/- with Grade pay Rs.6600/-. They are Governed by Residency Scheme applicable in this hospital. Every year in the month of May the advertisement is being published in the leading newspapers both English and Hindi version for filling up the vacant posts of Senior Residents. Unfilled / backlog vacancies of reserved posts of Senior Resident are advertised through special drive.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Candidate should possess Post Graduate Degree/Diploma (approved by MCI) in the concerned speciality after M.B.B.S. failing which MBBS with two years experience in a Govt. organization out of which one year in the concerned speciality.

  • Eligibility for Maxillofacial Surgery:- The candidate should be MDS (recognized by DCI) failing which BDS with two years experience in a government organization. Other conditions are same as in the case of other departments.
  • Eligibility for Endocrinology - Desired qualification is MD/DNB in Medicine or Paediatrics
  • Eligibility for Haemotology – The candidate should possess MD or equivalent in Medicine or Paediatrics. Candidate with M.D. or equivalent in Pathology will not be eligible.

AGE limit: maximum 33 years (Relaxation will be provided as per Govt. of India Rules)

Conditions of Recruitment:

  • Crucial date for determination of eligibility with reference to age, educational qualification and experience etc. will be the last date of submission of application form in this institution.
  • Candidate must be registered with the Delhi Medical Council/ Dental Council of India (for PG Degree) before joining the post, if selected.
  • The tenure of Sr. Resident is for three years including any service rendered as Sr. Resident earlier on adhoc/regular basis in any Govt. of India/state government hospital. The appointment is initially for a period of one year, which could be extended for a period of three years on an annual basis subject to the satisfactory work & conduct report from the concerned HOD.
  • Other service conditions are applicable as per service conditions prescribed from time to time by the Govt. of India.
  • The candidate who is already in Govt. service has to submit No Objection Certificate from the employer.
  • Inter – hospital /Institution transfer shall not be permitted.
  • The following original certificates are required at the time of registration-
